Summary of the bill.
The bill proposes a framework to protect and restore the Ciénaga de Las Macanas wetland in Herrera Province and develop ecotourism there. Ecotourism activities must be compatible with the wetland’s conservation. The bill also reaffirms its protected-area designation, organizes management through plans and participatory bodies, and provides for restoration, research, environmental education, and support for local communities.
