The bill would amend the Criminal Code to increase the penalty for extortion committed through electronic communications. The increase would also cover extortion involving sexually intimate content. It would establish penalties for the nonconsensual circulation of such content and for harassment or threats using information and communication technologies, with additional consequences where there is a relationship of subordination or the offender is a public official.
