Summary of the bill.
The bill proposes to recognize the right to adequate and sustainable food and assign municipalities responsibilities for food supply. Those responsibilities include nutrition education, community dining facilities and food waste reduction. It creates the Municipal Nutritious Food System (Sistema Municipal de Alimentación Nutritiva, SIMUNAN) to coordinate public authorities and social sectors, establishes mechanisms for public participation, and provides for violations, administrative liability and transitional arrangements.
