Summary of the bill.
The draft bill proposes adding a chapter to the Criminal Code (Código Penal) on offenses against the legal and operational security of the Panama Canal. It would criminalize conduct that facilitates the seizure or control of its operating territory, watershed and adjacent areas, with a penalty of fifty (50) years’ imprisonment. It also addresses conduct occurring inside or outside the national territory and communicated in various forms.
