The bill proposes a gradual ban on expanded polystyrene (foam) containers used for food packaging in Panama. It would give the companies involved a maximum of one year to replace them with biodegradable or compostable alternatives and assign the Ministry of Environment (Ministerio de Ambiente) and the Ministry of Health (Ministerio de Salud) responsibility for monitoring compliance during the transition.
