Summary of the bill.
The bill proposes to amend smuggling and customs fraud offenses and related conduct by public officials, as well as the applicable penalties. These penalties apply when violence is used or nonexistent recipients are declared. The bill would also allow the Ministry of Commerce and Industries (Ministerio de Comercio e Industrias) to cancel, on its own initiative, the Notice of Operation (Aviso de Operación) of establishments that sell products derived from illicit trade, and it sets the effective date of its provisions.
